Musicians in Wales wanted for global music festival
Musicians and music venues in Wales are being invited to take part in a global music festival raising money for children with AIDS.
One World Beat has more than 100 events in 39 countries on board for the festival, which takes place in March. There are already many events in Wales, but more musicians in Wales are welcome to participate!
Musicians around the world will play, simultaneously, on the weekend of March 19-21 - all to raise money for Keep A Child Alive, a charity which provides medical equipment for children suffering with AIDS and HIV.
Musicians of all levels and genres can take part in the One World Beat festival, by donating some or all of their fee from a performance, and venues hosting events can donate part or all of the profits from their event to One World Beat.
All donations will go direct to Keep A Child Alive.
All events taking part in the festival will be listed on the One World Beat website (www.oneworldbeat.org), which is attracting close to 3,000 visitors per day, and there is also an individual page for each event, which features full details about that event.
In addition, there is a global PR campaign in place which is helping to promote the events.
Alicia Keys and Phil Collins are One World Beat supporters.
Among the many venues worldwide hosting One World Beat events is the Shepherds Bush Empire in London, which has staged concerts for some of the world's biggest names in music, such as Elton John, Bob Dylan, Jethro Tull, Oasis and Stereophonics.
Several events, including concerts in London, Sydney, Spain and the United States, will be broadcast live on the internet via webcasting.
One World Beat is set to be one of the biggest global charity music extravaganzas since Live Aid.
To participate, musicians and music venues need to nominate a performance/gig they are involved in on the weekend of March 19-21 (or during the week before) - or to get a performance/gig arranged for that weekend.
To register their intention to participate, musicians and music venues can go to the 'participate' page of the One World Beat website (www.oneworldbeat.org) and follow the registration instructions. Not all details need to be confirmed to register, just intent to participate.
The 39 countries hosting One World Beat events to date are:
Australia, Bahamas, Belgium, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Democratic Republic of the Congo, England, Faroe Islands, Germany, Ghana, Gibraltar, Greece, Japan, Kenya, Maldives, Malta, Namibia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Poland, Scotland, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Tanzania, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United States, and Wales.
